Hi everyone!
I bought a Logan 1.5 DLE on April 14, 2009 and today after exactly a month took it for the first service.
Firstly, I agree to the views and opinions of VP in this forum. I put down my observations -
Plus: The car is very spacious from the inside, has a comfortable ride quality and has a very good road behaviour, even better than my D'zire.
Minus: The Clutch is a heavy duty clutch, the power steering is really powerful and the engine oil chamber is made of a very special material. All these continuously remind me of my older Ambassador & Sumo.
The Power Steering is heavy. Good exercise of the shoulders.
The Clutch is also heavy, which is painful for the left leg and if you are little older or have weak/ old knees then it is a real pain.
The Chamber is real low and made up of cast aluminium, which has cracked before the first service itself and engine oil is leaking. The heavy chamber guard did nothing to prevent the damage. What is more surprising is that the dealer tells that it costs around 8000-9000 and no warranty cover for that. Actually, the service guy told that it was a very common problem in Logan and most of the Logan owners are used to this problem and they always kept M-Seal handy with them because the chamber damage was inevitable. The roads in my place are a mix of rural and urban roads.
The underbody too is real low and hits the smallest speed breakers with even 3-4 people in the car, reminding me of my Matiz & Uno.
I don't understand how I am going to enjoy my Logan with LOTS OF SPACE, COMFORTABLE RIDE QUALITY & GOOD ROAD HANDLING but with all the above problems. What has surprised me most is that Renault have launched Logan with Mahindras in India and Mahindras must have been responsible for the adaptation/ homologation of the car for the Indian Roads & Conditions when Mahindras use the Hydraulic Clutch in their most basic offering, Over Assisted Power Steering in Bolero & Scorpio and the Sheet Metal Oil Chamber in their entire model line-up.
Hope to hear from fellow club members and probably Renault or Mahindra, if they wish.
Regards and bye for now.
