Logan - Problems (Yes It Has Some)

| | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)

Nothing is perfect in this world, so it's same with Mahindra Logan as well. Yes it has some drawbacks, manufacturing defects and problems, which I would like to share with you all.

Engine & Transmission

  • Little more power needed for 48kw, 1.5 DCi Diesel engine for hill areas, although as per Mahindra it can be done but they have tuned ECU for maximum mileage.

  • 1.4 Petrol engine is a bit noisy sometimes but it has enough power to cruise.

  • Gearbox is good but creates problems sometime engaging reverse gear.

  • Clutch seems to be the biggest problem for all. It's a wire based clutch and quite hard as well and gets harder when you drive around 40 - 60 kms. No solution is available till now from Mahindra.

Body

  • Doors are poorly adjusted and one of the biggest problems these days, tend to make noise when gets older.

  • Window glass (driver side) creates "kat kat" sound when half open, seems to be the trademark problem inherited from EU versions.

  • Driver also inherits a problem of getting loose and makes noise.

Ride & Comfort

  • Wrong side indicator and wiper controls creates little problem but one gets used too after one or two mistakes

  • AC controls are not placed ergonomically

  • No boot opener, although now a days it's available at extra cost but looks like an additional fitment and do not match with existing switches.

  • Rear power window switches are hard to notice and operate

  • Some other wrongly placed switches like boot release lever etc.

  • Diesel version is a bit noisy when you go beyond 90 kmph.

I bet every car has flaws and defects and by looking at plus points Logan gives, one can easily compromise with these few problems. Mahindra is already in the process of coming up with solutions to some of the problems mentioned here but can't say when they will become available.

The biggest drawback (not actually drawback) is its looks, yes it has a boxy old style looks but this is where all the space comes from. In starting days of swift people strongly commented about its body and European design but what's happening now is in front of you.

I would suggest you to buy this car only if you feel you need and please don't buy if you want to impress your neighbor or want a car like your friend.

I have purchase Mahindra Logan DLS on dated 30.4.2008 from Gahlot Motors, Sikar. At the time of first service, they told me that we do not have service facility so I send my Logan to K.S. Motors, Udaipur Service Centre for First Service.

After checking the car, they told me that the foundation of Radiator is broken from one side. I asked them that I have 2 years warranty of this vehicle so replace it. They taken some photographs and told me that our engineer will see then he will take the decision. After two months I have not received any massage from your side then I contract your help line No. 1800226006 on dated 10.1.2009. They give me a Docket No. IA10/0046.

On dated 12.1.2009 afternoon receive a phone call and he told that send your vehicle to our workshop. I send the vehicle. After that they again pass a massage that our Engineer will visit to Udaipur and he will take the decision. Till date my car is standing in your workshop and this two years warranty system is harassing me.

My vehicle is not accidental vehicle so I think this will not come in insurance claim .
